Odd catfight tactic?

Hello all. I have a close friend thats been in many catfights. One thing I have a hard time understanding is, almost every fight she's been in has ended with her kicking or knees her opponent in the groin. Is this a common tactic for women? She's the only person ive ever seen do this in a fight + i didnt think it hurt women that much. Anyone else know of any real fights that have ended this way?
