Nonsense. She was a judoka at 154 pounds. She was taller and naturally heavier than nearly everyone she fought in MMA before Holly Holm and the last two opponents are the only ones she's ever faced that had any striking skill at all. She was a one trick pony (granted it's likely the best one trick anyone has ever had) who bullied smaller women, most of whom fought at 125 or lower outside of UFC, and avoided facing someone who could actually punch and had footwork until she absolutely had to. That's why she dropped to 135 when she was in Strikeforce instead of facing Cyborg at 145. She was undefeated at 145 but was scared of facing someone who could strike well. She ducked and ducked and ducked until she finally had to start facing good strikers and then she got exposed for what she really is.

The Holm and Nunes fights were two of my biggest betting days in the last year or so because of how easy it was to see the result.

Rousey only looked good because she was fighting up to three weight classes lower. She's doesn't look so flash fighting women her size, does she?

She's free to prove me wrong, but I can't imagine it. Like Leroy, I've had a field day betting with her last two fights because she has the world fooled that she's the quality fighter she'll tell you she is. I hope she's the favourite again in the future. I like winning at the expense of arrogance.

...I mantein my opinion about Ronda Rousey...for me she is (not was) the number one....

I won't be surprised if, years from now, "experts" look back and recognize Rousey's role in making female MMA into a legitimate combat sport (assuming it continues to grow and flourish as it has in the last few years) despite her failings as a striker.

I could even imagine a future where the women's MMA surpasses the men's - in terms of fan base and financial value to promoters. The women are more "relatable" to fans (being of more "normal" size/appearance than the bigger, hulkier male middle- to heavy- weight fighters.

Plus as more and more fans/bettors are able to view/bet/experience MMA thru cable/satellite/Internet (and whatever the next wave of distribution is) more and more "fetish" MMA bouts (death fights, bikini, topless, even... God forbid... nude - see XXX) are available from parts of the world where human life is cheap and people desperate enough to do whatever.

Rousey raised the public's awareness of MMA (the first step to legitimacy) and she did it at the right time for the sport to catch on - unless it doesn't, in which case please delete this post from the historical record 20 years from now!

Ladykiller, there is no amount of preparation that can prepare Ronda for Nunes. Ronda can not take a punch without losing motor skills and cognitive reasoning.  If they fought ten times Nunes would win every time. And each time would be worse. After about 10 beatings like that Ronda would be in a home for special needs adults.  It's over for her.

She got what she deserved. She ran thru a WEAK division. She was a hype machine and money maker, which is why UFC protected her so much and for so long with WEAK opponents.

I'm not sure I "agree" with you, but I HOPE you are correct! I'd like to see Rousey finish her MMA career with a win (or two, or three) just so everyone's last image of her is as a red-faced "loser"... she, and MMA, both deserve better than that after all she's given them.
