Now that UFC  is in the books and we are under 20 days away we can start talking about the Rousey vs Nunes matchup.  I am astounded that Vegas still has Ronda favored as I see a total and brutal 1st round loss coming for the former champ.  Anyone think that Ronda has a shot of winning or at least not getting her sexy ass humiliated?

I think there is a possibility that she is hungry but I am not 100 percent sold on that either.  She could just be doing this for the money and because she feels an obligation.  Either way I just do not see her arm-baring Nunes and I see no other way for her to win.  Oddsmakers must se something I do not though.   More than anything else it comes down to Ronda saying that she was out on her feet after Holly caught her.  Nunes hits WAY harder than Holly.  I see Nunes coming out and keeping distance and lighting Ronda's face up with that sick jab and her legs up with those snapping leg kicks.  Ronda gets desperate and gets caught with overhand right. Either she gets knocked out, Amanda pounces on her and TKO with ground and pound or a RNC if Ronda gives up her back.

I see Ronda getting outclassed, humiliated and pouting about becoming suicidal again.  Then,
she'll retire, make a few more movies, and drift into the obscurity she so richly deserves.

Nunes is going to finish her in the first minute. Holm is a patty cack puncher and knocked Rousey all over the cage. Nunes is a KO specialist and has footwork to go with it. Ronda has the worst striking coach in the sport. This is a cakewalk for the champ.

I am going to go with Rousey in a close fight . Nunes is picking her bouts carefully she doesn't want to fight Cat Zigano or Holly Holm

Rousey winning is a better "story" - and will give the promoter more publicity moving forward. Nunes may be the better fighter, but Rousey will (likely) be better for UFC in the long run... attracting more investors, advertising dollars and fans.

Which has nothing to do with who will win, or "should win" just business.

No, you don't understand that.

Not only do you not understand that, but she just was announced as fighting for a title on Feb 11.

Can this please be a place on Internet where we can be kind to one another? Because someone was misinformed about Holly's retirement.

After seeing pic Ronda just posted of her back, I think she is physically ready.

"odds makers favor Rousey" is the kind of headline designed to draw bettors interest... probably because the "smart money" guys figure everyone knows/has heard of/likes Ronda while Nunes is pretty much unknown to the 'man on the street' who doesn't really follow MMA and only knows Ronda Rousey from Sports Illustrated (nude body paint or other issue with Ronda's pic).

Plenty of ordinary folks will likely put their money on Ronda, but the "smart guys" will probably bet on Nunes.

In the end, the "odds makers" are only interested in making odds to encourage the MOST people to bet ON SOMEONE... so they can take their percentage no matter who wins the actual fight!

Personally, I don't think Rousey will do well....but I think the organizers would like nothing better than for Ronda to win which would let them gen up another several fights with big box office sales. Nunes, Holm, et. al., aren't going to sell nearly as many tickets as Rousey (on name recognition alone).

I agree with much of what you say but if oddsmakers did not think she would win she would not be favored. Before I saw what sick shape she is in it was seriously doubting her chances. Now I put them near 50 50.

I am not a serious student of MMA like many here are.  I love reading the comments. It helps me see different angles to all of this.

This is a very difficult question for me.  MMA is so complex and almost anything CAN happen.

I wonder (not a conspiracy theorist), but how much influence do the UFC brass have in this?   If they have some, they would want Rousey to regain the title,  (I think).   To rematch Holly.   To get Cyborg at some point before they both retire.  I don't think Nunes has the draw power that Ronda has.

But, if there is no outside factors at play...I see it going to a decision. Then the fireworks start, no matter who gets the decision.   I pray it is settled before a judges' decision.
