Who do you think would have won the fight if not stopped by destry. I think Lilly belle would have taken Frenchie and ended the fight by banging Frenchie's head on the floor until she was out. Lily Belle would have than kicked frenchie until finally stopped by Destry. The Bar crowd would have cheered her umiliation of Frenchie.

I would put my money on all three Frenchies (Marlene Dietrich / Mari Blanchard / Shelly Winters).  The character, no matter who played her, was a seasoned barroom brawler.  Great fights!

I wrote a story a few years back on the Seaking site about a big saloon brawl. The saloon girls got the worst of it in that story. And I think Una Merkel would have eventually kicked Marlene Dietrich's shapely ass all over the saloon. Just my opinion.

I like how you continued and ended the fight. I agree with you.

Marlene dietrich or una merkel wrote about the fight and told who did what to whom.  they said they went full out... I think their were slaps and other things....

I must say that I think Shelly Winters as Frenchie was completely in charge of Lilybelle in their saloon brawl. She was a great hairpuller and showed real determination. Lily might have been the better slapper but Frenchie knew how to sit on her opponent's belly and grind her into submission. In my opinion it was the best of the three Destry fights.

That's interesting.  Of the 6 women involved in the 3 Destry fights, I believe that only Marie Windsor (Shelley's opponent in Frenchie) had multiple screen catfights.  She fights in the Roger Corman classic Swamp Women (aka Swamp Diamonds) and in Belle Starr.   Here are url's for both fights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn-SYtf5SYg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew1nkXKzDX4.  (Sorry, I'm too inept to actually post the direct links.)

Marie also appeared in the movie Outlaw Women and the made-for-TV movie Wild Women.  Both flicks have great catfights, but Marie isn't involved in any of them.

Shelley had one fight in mud in a movie entitled Ellie.  She was no young thing then, and the fight is pretty lame.

I've never seen Una Merkel, Marlene Dietrich, Mary Wickes or Mari Blanchard in any other movie catfights.  Has anyone?

I think Swamp Women may have been the first movie I ever saw on TV that had catfights, and that goes back a ways as the movie was made in 1956.  It had two good catfights and they were fistfights as well, not just rolling around.  Great contribution to movie catfights.  Marie Windsor was a catfight favorite of mine also as she was very attractive and tough looking, and did several catfights.  I lament that these tough western and prison-escape movie catfights have been replaced today by quick-as-a-flash martial arts style battles.  What a shame.

Sandman- I searched Seaking's sight a while back for that western saloon brawl story you wrote, under the writing name you had given me, but I could not find it.  Can you provide the title, the year it was posted and that writing name it's under here?
