it's with a very heavy  heart i pass on the news that hb has lost his mom this past week.she was a very special person to him ( like all mom's are) and i'll be the first to wish her peace and rest and pray that she's in a better place i know hb was a great son to her  and i send him a big hug with my condolences and best wishes hoping he'll be able to move on and we get him back here soon

I am sorry to hear that. Having recently lost my own father to cancer I know losing a parent is a great loss you never really prepare for.

HB ....  sorry for your loss .... I know there are no words, that can ease the ache you feel. I have a strong feeling. This may be my own mothers last holiday season with us.
You can only hope, to have some wonderful times, and shared memories. To hold close to. When you do lose someone like this in your life.

NutMeg ... also sorry to hear about your father.. This time of year is always harder. When having recently losing. Someone that maybe has been a part of it, for so long.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone for their wishes and kind words.  For a number of reasons I don't post here much anymore or have much of a presence, and didn't expect this news to become public. However my sweet friend Trish felt it was something she wanted to pass on, which is fine.

Losing anyone you love is difficult, and the last 2 years dealing with mom's rapid decline into Alzheimer's and then the flu that took her in the end was a tough ride at times. The last 2 weeks of her life she was in hospice, so I have the utmost admiration for folks in that line of work.

As is normal with later stage Alzheimer's, there were days when she had no idea who I was, but when I'd visit her at the assisted living facility she was able to communicate, even if most of it was non-sensical. But after she became very sick, she was no longer responsive.  Except for a few moments, the Saturday before she passed - she had a sudden and very short moment of lucidity and we were able to connect one last time before she slipped back behind the veil forever.

She's gone now but lived a good 84 years. Christmas was hard without her, it is strange to leave work and NOT be heading by the home to visit her anymore.

But, we move on.
