Old story

I am looking for an old story probably five or so years old. It's one was one of the best written stories at the time and I cannot seem to forget the theme. Anyway it was a story concerning two neighbors who didn't get on. One was a spinster the other couple held a party and invited the neighbor who finally attended and then ended up in a catfight before the husband after all othe guests had left. Hope someone has a copy somewhere
