Old Movie

Hello,

I am trying to remember the name of an old black and white movie that I haven't seen in years.

It involved a gang of girls who somehow ended up with a stash of money they buried.

There is a  falling out in the gang and one of  the girls goes to dig up the money in the middle of the night but is jumped by one of the other girls.  She tries to hit the second girl with a shovel and they fight.  I can't remember now if the second girl a shot or stabbed but she manages to get behind the first girl and strangles her to death with a cord, smiles then dies from her wounds.

It was a sort of gang movie.

Does anyone remember this old film?

I think that sounds like The Violent Years.  I could be wrong
