I see that most fight with good detail in the poll fight section and base the fight off the results of the votes of the members here.  But my question is this, would this thread be a good spot to have an ongoing battle? Or should that take someplace as this is an archive for sharing?

Is this the correct section to have a thread fight without having votes or is this more of a place for archived logs?

Oh, okie I get the question... I'll try to answer to the best of my understanding.

The Poll section is strictly for poll fights. Whether they have actual fight posts or not...

This section (logs) is more about people posting logs of fights they had in the chatroom, yahoo, or chatzy....

The Catfight story section is more about fiction written by one (or more persons)... And I think it would be the best suited for you to make the 'thread' fight.

I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain that I'm not ^^

I honestly don't think there's any space for post-based fight roleplaying, which is a shame because the idea sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

I say just go for it here. It could be a running log. A mod will move it if it doesn't belong.

The best place for the type of fight/posts that you are talking about would be the clique wars section. When we set that section up it was meant to be for threads, topics that doesn't fit anywhere else.
