I know for me, the girls involved in a fight being as similar as possible is my preference. What's yours?

Same height, same build, same strength?

I'll take it a step further: if the women are almost exact doubles/ lookalikes it makes the intensity triple! The jealousy goes through the roof then. Every woman thinks she's unique. To see a mirror image of herself puts her flaws and strengths in front of her. It's a natural thing to feel ultimate rivalry then and want to prove which one of you is better.

I'd rephrase that as the intensity of the fantasy grows. In real life, for decades, from a military standpoint, two, later three nigh equally matched superpowers faced off, and the delicate balance was kept through mutually assured destruction (and being forced to rely on that got dubbed MAD with good reason). Women are no different, the more they meet their equal, the more they avoid head on conflict (and I'm massively hand waving away how many cultures actively raise girls to detest lesbian desire) and go for proxies. That is how they become the head cheerleader, the queen bee.

There's of course obviously nothing wrong with having fantasies that have no basis in reality, provided it's accepted as the basic premise. Out of the two sexes generally women are more rational and look for ways that are beneficial directly evolutionary, or just socially and once they confirm they have the higher ground is the point where they attack.
