Wow Martine!  Love the idea of those girls fighting in school uniforms!  Must have been a lot of thigh on display in a fight!
I'll let you use your imagination.... Lol

I think girls / women are more aggressive today than ever before.  When I was in school we fought like girls, pulling hair, slapping, scratching, and I still fight mostly like that.  But when I look at videos on youtube and dailymotion, the girls are fighting like boys just beating the hell out of each other.  Yeah they may have a fist full of hair but it's for control as they beat with the other one.  I've hit a girl or two yeah, but once on the ground it wasn't a fist fight as much as a full out catfight.

100% agree. And me by myself I'm not too sure if I like catfights where girls are fighting like boys. Prefer watching female kind of fighting.

But just my 2 cents.

Go Martine

And those fights were nothing compared to when a girl from a catholic school fought a girl from a Protestant school!!! Don't think ANYTHING could match that!!!

I went to a Protestant school and fought girls from Catholic schools and the fights weren't any different from any other fight. Religion may cause a fair amount of fights, but it doesn't actually improve your ability to do so or increase your punch resistance.

You didn't go to school in Belfast though!! It's the reason behind most fights!

Yeah my bad, I forgot that schools in Belfast teach female students how to fight.  ::)

I managed to get into a few fights at school, well quite a lot actually. I've never been one for pulling hair or slapping people, even as a kid I just punched people in the face. A few of the girls I fought would flap their arms and windmill wildly, but a few knew how to punch which made for more interesting fights.

who was your toughest from back then?

Had a few tough fights back then, a couple of older girls were members of a rival boxing gym so there was some tension there and I wasn't above stoking the tension if it meant a decent fight.

rival gym you say? that create other fights between different members much besides your own?

When I say "rival gym" I mean a gym other than the one I went to, we didn't actually go around in a gym gang or anything. Knowing they boxed at another gym made me want to fight them but mostly because I knew they'd be able to give me a proper fight, quite a few other people obviously thought the same as they were always trying to fan the flames.

yeah I did kinda guess that, but wondered how big the rivalry was. How would the flames be fanned, what would be said? Just stuff like: "I'm stronger than you" type thing or what?

Just the usual sort of flame fanning you'd expect when people want to see 2 girls or guys fight each other, they'd spread gossip or chatter about who would win in a fight, but twist it to provoke one person although I didn't really need provocation, if someone wanted to fight then that was good enough for me.

You may need a history lesson on the tension between Catholics and Protestants in Belfast...

I'm well aware of the history, but I wasn't aware that said tension meant that schools taught girls how to fight or that people fighting for pointless religious reasons are somehow better fighters.

I think you'll find I never once said girls were taught to fight or that the tension made them better at fighting...

It did however, make girls hate each other. Even our teachers referred negatively to the girls and teachers in the other school!!

No, but you did say and I quote "And those fights were nothing compared to when a girl from a catholic school fought a girl from a Protestant school!" This implies that being from different religious schools made it somehow a much better fight, as if people in other fights simply give up and take a beating due to lack of religious tensions. I would wager that most people fighting have some level of dislike for each other, otherwise they likely wouldn't be fighting.

Yup, that definitely happened.

DJP60

how do u teach "class brawls?" u do not want to fight each other for practice. FightGirl, did the students watch the teachers fight and then the students went after each other? I have only heard of about 7-8, max, females on a side in a multi girls fight. is that about right number or were the numbers of fighters larger and approx. about how many to a side? tyia

Wonder if there were any class on class brawls......I could see them.......would be wild as hell if it happened

No, it was only ever between the individuals but once a little scuffle broke out between a few onlookers - noting v major though...
