I honestly agree but also believe a remake wouldn't hurt or take away from the original, if anything we would end up with another catfight. My concern would be they would simplify the fight to make sure the film didn't come across sexist, which should be considered. They could easily amend the reason for the fight so it emboldens strong women maybe? Or, they just simplify it as they did in the total recall remake. The fight in the remake in my opinion was no where near as good as the original.

I fear that a remake would be more of what I call a "slugfest," with spinning karate kicks and hard punches rather than a real catfight like we have in the movie.  I was going to write "sexy" catfight, but that would be sexist.  That's the norm nowadays, and I get it.  I just don't like it.

Whilst a remake is a great idea (and judging by some of the contenders offered up, a mouth watering prospect) I agree with Bear, they simply wouldn't get away with the sexually charged nature of the original fight today, as it would be seen as sexist. Shame, but that's the reality. One things for sure, this fight will live on forever as the greatest cinema catfight of all time.

FYI.   Interviews with the actresses indicated that,  despite  long hours of rehearsal,  when  the call came for "Action,"  it all went out the window!  The direct quote was, "We both got hurt!"

Great topic, I've always loved this fight. Terence Young certainly had a fetish for catfights. War Goddess was another of his films that features great girl fights. My personal preference is still One Million Years BC because the fight is allowed to go through to the end with a clear winner. Both of these fights (FRWL and One Million Years BC) were incredible turn-ons when I was a kid in very early puberty. I'm in my sixties now, and these two movies, among others, (like the 60's Avengers series with Dianna Rigg) were tremendous sources of girl-fight fantasies back then, and when War Goddess appeared, it brought catfights to a whole other level, 2 fights in that movie between the same girls.
I agree that any remake of FRWL would not be nearly as sexy. It would be some kind of martial arts-karate fight, not at all my what I like in a girl fight. I still like the old style catfight and it turns me on today as much as it did all those years ago. I don't care for real fights, preferring fights that are staged but look real, like the movies we are talking about. Real fights mean girls getting hurt, which I don't care for. Make it staged to look real, with a clear winner and a victory pose.

Why has no one made a catfight movie with two women fighting over a man who then rewards the winner?? Combine catfight and porn...too difficult for our binary think adult film people!
