Erroneous Nickname

Joined yesterday. I get the Erroneous Nickname error message when attempting to log in to chat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To use the chat room your user name can't have any spaces in it. If you want me to fix it let me know what name you would like to use. Also when I do change it you will get a email telling you to reset your password.

If I change my user name will I lose my buddies?
