Does anybody know whatever happened to Jeff The Ref? He was a British gentlemen who used to referee for a lot of European companies such as Danube, Festelle and Beka Films. I believe he used to post on this site but haven't seen or heard from him in several years. I would think he'd be in his 50's or 60's these days so hopefully he is still among the living, but he seems to have disappeared in recent years.
There are a few photos of him on the Rockin-Roxanne site in their Euro Fights section. Here is a link of to one of them to jog anyone's memory.

He was often referred to as the Luckiest Man Alive. Sadly, his death was reported in this very site, maybe within the past five years? Hopefully he died on the job :)

Jeff passed away quite a few years ago. I believe that it was announced on this site.

He was also a really nice guy and tremendous company with an encyclopaedic knowledge of classical music! Illness cut short his musical career but he filled his life in other ways – including being a tremendously discreet, fair and kind referee.

Discreet? ;)

OK, he had lots of amusing anecdotes but never anything nasty. 'Unobtrusive' is the word I was looking for. A lot of refs think it's all about them. Jeff never tried to upstage the girls. What's more, he was never aggressive towards them the way referees often are. It was obvious that he genuinely loved and appreciated them.
This is an interesting thread as we've been working off and on to eventually put up a memorial page on our site at Rockin-Roxanne.com (http://rockin-roxanne.com) to feature some of the women who have passed on such as Judell Dulong, Santana, etc and we'd like to include details about Jeff in it. Would any know how Jeff passed and when he was last active? He's was certainly an interesting figure within the industry.
For that matter, we could use most any and all details about others who have passed on so we can include them as well, such as how, when and the matter of their passing along with the years they were active.
Would appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Roxanne

Unfortunately I can't really add to what's already in the Wiki. I don't know what he died of. Only that he died far too young. He didn't smoke. He wasn't a heavy drinker. He was never overweight. He deserved to live a long life. But he did tell me he'd had a serious illness in his youth that affected his voice, I think. Perhaps it was a recurrence of that. I don't know. It's all very sad.
