Hi :) while watching the film ' Drag me to Hell ' i noticed the western catfight taking place on the tv behind the couple chatting. It was obvious they really wanted you to see the catfight as i seen at least 4 or 5 seconds close in of them fighting on a bar table in the centre of the screen.
I've seen this before in Ugly Betty with catfights being on in their living room tv....these were more in the background and not so noticeable though.
Has anyone else seen catfights fitted into films or tv shows like this and i wonder what the reason is for it ?
On a side note how much hair did that old woman pull out of the stars hair during this film ( pic below )....even when she was dead she managed to pull out a chunk lol
Thanks :-*
I saw that in a movie I can't remember the name . but it was a spainish channel and a old lady was watching it while outher people were
talking. think it was by accident that they were filming and that was what wes on at time and thet just went with it was low budget film.
Hey Sender so even old ladies like watching catfights on tv ;) i'm sure i've seen more but like you can't remember either.
It's like a wee bonus if a film doesn't have a catfight in it to spot one which isn't part of the story.
Thank you for commenting :)
Years ago, I distinctly remember seeing a western movie which featured a wagon train in the middle of nowhere. Some people were riding by the wagon train, which was stopped. Up ahead, a crowd of settlers were gathered around watching two pioneer women fight. I don't think the wagon train was central to the theme of the movie, rather, the people were just riding by. The camera only showed the women fighting from a distance, and the people riding by didn't really pay any attention to the fight. For the life of me I can't remember the name of that movie, who starred in it, or when it was made. It was complete surprise to me.
Another movie, Ice Pirates, had a scene where the major characters were entering a colony, and a wild catfight was in progress. Again, the camera was focused on the main characters, not the fighters. And again, the main characters didn't pay any attention to the fight, as I remember.
Oh....one other comes to mind. I remember a movie or TV show, whereby in front of a school, one woman's car accidentally hit the back of another woman's car. The women got out and started arguing. Then before you know it, they were fighting, with one woman on top of the other on the hood of one of the cars. Again, this was not part of the movie theme, so it didn't get a lot of attention.
These are all I remember right off the top of my head.
Are you like me Wasteland always having to press rewind on a film just to check on something i seen which has no part in the story :) lucky i'm in charge of the remote control :D
I can't remember any which were on the film but not part of the story like yours only ones on tvs like i mentioned. Wonder why they decide to just put random catfights on films....maybe the director or whoever just loves a good catfight?
Thanks for your comment you have a great memory unlike me :-\
I have never seen such a thing
Silky....I only wish I had a great memory!
You bring up a very interesting issue....that is, why would a director choose to have a catfight as a completely unrelated background distraction to the central theme to the show/movie? Like you say, maybe these directors are catfight fans. After all, the audience just sees a few seconds of these background fights, whereas the directors may take hours or even days getting the fights to be just right in his or her mind.
It has always puzzled me Wasteland but then i am blonde :D
I have only seen a few Hunter it's not very common i don't think as most catfights i see in films are central to the story.
wasteland I remember the movie you were talking about . saw it at a drive in theater years a go late 70's I think . it was low budget
drive in movie type thing about high school . they had some good stuff like the women in prison type movies . before vhs and cable.
all ways thought that about the director putting a catfight seen in there for no reason was a fan. there's more of us then you know.
