i read something somewhere that changes would start on the 5th & be finalised on the 15th

It's time to upgrade

Older versions of Yahoo7 Messenger will begin shutting down on 5 August 2016 and will stop working on 15 August 2016. Please upgrade to the latest version to continue using Yahoo7 Messenger.

And silly Rorke....Yahoo doesn't run on valves....(tubes for us American's)...

My understanding is they're shutting down access to older versions of YM, and August 31st is now the date for any and all active versions to be shut off
from connectivity.

And the new stand alone desktop version to replace the standard YM is still planned for some point in the future.
