Holly in a complete beat down. Tate is a very good wrestler and a very tough girl but she has never faced what she is about to face against Holm. Holly is the next level female MMA athlete. World champion boxer who has now dedicated herself to MMA and has the best coaching. Her lateral and head movement, onothodox southpaw stance, FIVE ! inch reach advantage, snapping right jab and powerful left will all equal a bloodbath for Tate on the feet. Not to mention Holly is a kickboxer.
Tate will go in cautious trying not to make same mistake Ronda did. Holly will also be cautious not wanting to get taken down. Tate will begin to get walked down and start eating jabs. When Tate tries to close distance with punches, Holly will use her amazing straight left counter punches. Tate will dive in for leg takedowns and Holly will sprawl and make her pay on way in and out. Repeat...
Tate will be lucky to make it through 2 rounds . Vegas has Holm favored 4 to 1. I have it Holm 6 to 1.
Looking forward to seeing Cupcake get KTFO
Cupcake gets squashed by Holly.
Miesha is the first real wrestler that Holm has faced. She'll be the first person to get a successful takedown on Holm. She won't be fat/lazy/stupid like Ronda was, and the only problem she had with Rousey was that her skill set was exactly the worst possible to beat Ronda with. Miesha will take Holm deep into the fight, but her standup hasn't improved enough to get the win. Holm via decision.
I'm really glad that Dana decided to give Miesha her break rather than go for a rematch between RR and HH next summer. Just to make it interesting and give Miesha credit, I'd love to see her score an upset with a 4th round submission over Holly, but... ummm, won't happen. I predict that Holly may likely knock Miesha out, possibly with that lethal leg kick of hers. Holly's superior boxing skills and reach will be very difficult for Miesha to penetrate, counter and/or stop. And Holly's muscular legs are like tree trunks when they hit. RR can surely attest to that. It would be good for the female UFC that this fight last longer than the Rowdy one's first round armbar submissions. Misha is tough and I really enjoy watching her fight, especially her wrestling/ground game, but in my humble opinion, Holly is notch above all other UFC women in her weight class and will be hard to beat. If she doesn't knock Miesha out, I believe that Holly will win by unanimous decision. Hopefully, it will be a close fight, but... damn, Holly is so good at hitting hard!
this one will be quite a war, though I predict Holm will take Tate. The fitness is similar, but Tate simply has no answer for Holm's boxing and reach. Holly has great footwork and an ability to stay out at a distance that has always to me seemed twice what ought to be possible to her. combo of arm-reach and those long legs. Holly can stay so far out, moves great and has what boxers call "ring generalship, she can move fighters around the ring where she wants to go with them. What I don't think we know yet is how good Holly is on the ground. I doubt when things go to ground that holly will be so able to go back to stand-up like she did with Rousey.
Tate still has all the stuff she had to take Rousey past round one when noone else had been able to, and she's not burdened down with Ronda's level or arrogance. Tate is the more well-rounded mma fighter than Holm is, and will dominate downfighting and may be close to dominant on the cage. Yet, she can take a hit, and unlike rousey, Tate doesn't think there has been some cosmic miscarriage of justice if she does get hit.
It's 5 to 6 n pick 'em with these two- the best sort of a fight! I'm hedge my bets, but I will pick Tate. Oh, and hey- for the first time online I'll say this: I predicted Holm could well beat Rousey way long before anyone else thought it likely. Fighting mma is so FAST, and at this level ability differences are not so great. Yet and still: it will be a war, but one Holm will win. IF she does..OH MY will UFC 200 rematch with Rousey ever be be EPIC!!
Miesha Tate vis submission round two. Holly looks like a drowning possum on the ground and Miesha will make sure she spends alot of time there. ;) One dimensional Holly is in big trouble but hell, so was Buster Douglass right? It's all guess work really.....
Very cool to see so much interest in discussing female mma on here as I have mentioned a few times that I am a huge fan. Also very sweet that a few of you think pretty little Tate has a legit shot. If anyone is interested I did a fantasy story on this fight in my Holm v Rousey 2 story. Meisha will not be able to get Holly to the ground with out being pummeled. If and when she gets her there we she will not be strong enough to keep her there. Holly will throw Tate around. What would be super hot is if Tate does get top control and Holly gets her in guard and wraps those freaking long muscular around her neck and puts her to sleep. Tate is a wreslting warrior but she does not possess that killer violent aggression with strikes like Holly/Cat/Ronda/Nunes do.
Holly by submission ??? Now that would be incredible and legend building. As far as Buster Douglas not defending his belt??? Evander Holyfield doesn't count? Are you crazy? Douglas lost his belt via 3rd round knockout to a God, and I think the major difference is he is a large black man not a woman really :P. Credit to Douglas, he put on an absolute boxing lesson when he whipped Tyson much like Holly did when she simply destroyed Ronda.
Holly wrapping up Tate with her long legs and putting her in a body triangle and a choke for a submission would be epic. The Tyson vs Douglas comparison does have validity in that Ronda was Tyson like. Holly is not Buster Douglas. She is incredibly motivated and now even more confidant in her MMA after the Ronda knock out. And Cupcake is no Evander.

If Tate couldn't beat Zingano, I don't see how she can beat Holm.
Styles make fights. Zingano is the same style of fighter as Miesha, just with better endurance. Holm is a completely different style. Let's not forget that Holm was struggling with nobodies before the spectacular Rousey KO. She's not that good.

She's never been taken down. We have no idea what she can or can't do on the ground, but we know she easily powered out of Ronda's ground game after being the one to take Rousey down.
Spot on Leroy and even if Holly did look bad on the ground she will not anymore. She is training with the likes of Jon Jones, the GOAT. Yes, Holly struggled a little early in her MMA career. Those days are over. She is coming and she is bringing hell with her. And lets not forget about the elephant in the bikini bottoms errrr room. Holly juiced. It is obvious from her strength, speed and aggression gains in Rousey fight. Not to mention that she is hung like a small Japanese man now.

LOL. Nice work sinclairfan
Holm will either knock Tate out or the referee will stop it because Tate is taking too much punishment. Tate is in much the same position as Rousey, she either has to stand and trade punches which is a bad idea, or try and take Holm down which didn't work out well for Rousey who had an impressive take down record and has already beaten Tate twice.
I predict Tate will talk about it being her turn to take the belt etc, and that she's got a much smarter game plan than Rousey. But reality will bite early in the first round when Holm starts landing punches, she'll either desperately try for a take down and get knocked out trying, or she'll try and trade punches and get knocked out trying.
Tate and Rousey have completely different takedown games. Rousey is a judo specialist who uses leverage and opponents body movement against them. Tate is a wrestler who shoots in hard and takes the legs out from under her opponent. Holm has never fought a wrestler before, it's a completely different approach to takedown defense.
Holm will punch Tate pretty hard. This could be a bloody affair.
T
Not sure about heels here but Cupcake getting towered over by Holly on top of Empire State Building.
Holly was so impressive against Ronda, I can
Only see it going the same way against Tate.
Tho Meisha I think will give it a good go, could be
the last time she fights for the championship if
She loses.
She will be knocked out
.
Coming up this weekend...think some of you will be surprised/disappointed with the outcome.

Damn- laugh!! this time an actual laugh, not a cyber "lol" . I read back over my first statement, and after all that impressive expertise, I said each would win in the last few sentences...said I pick Miesha, then, forgetting that I had said that I put "Holly will win"
silly me, right.
What my "double-pick" shows, is either that I don't have a clue, or that this is such a a deliciously even, skilled match-up that it is about impossibel to say who would win. Both women are very strong is differing skill areas. Tate has the ground game pretty clearly, and Holly the stand up striking- both box and kick. ground game vs standup..interesting huh. One final guess- holly will be good enough fighting down to keep Misesha from getting a tap and will nail her with a strike. Holm will take it with ref stoppage.
I like Miesha.I like her attitude, I like her personality. And I think her experience will show and allow her to persevere. Her main downfall in my opinion is she seems to have trouble finishing big fights. I am afraid this will go to the scorecards, and if it does, the champion will get the nod. I hope I am wrong. I truly believe Miesha is the better (MMA) fighter.i just don't know that she will be able to stop Holly.

Holly is something which has never been seen before in the UFC, either in the male or female leagues - a genuine world-class strike fighter.
Meisha is brave (and cute!) but a grappler has little chance of beating a world class boxer/kickboxer like Holly.
Little Cupcake is getting KTFO.
Fight night!! I stay with my original prediction. Holly in a one sided humiliating beatdown that ends in the 2nd after Tate absorbs a barrage of lefts and kicks that melts her into canvass as Holm has hardly broken a sweat.
Neither of those fights were fixed.
What a borung fight it was.pity for my time.i hope Ronda or some other girl beat that Tate.she couldnt fight.i didnt expext this lose from Holy
To me that was tactical not boring Miesha is not a boxer she is a wrestler so she is going to fight to her strength not her weakness. If you look at Holly she is just waiting to land a punch combo or kick just from her stance because she's a boxer primarily. Ronda fought outside of her strength thus she lost love her or hate her Miesha fought smart that's why she won. Do you think Ali could have beaten Forman if they had just stood in the middle of the ring and just slugged it out from the start no way. My 2 cents

Upset as Miesha Tate defeats Holly Holm by 5th-round submission at 3:30 to become the women's 135-pound Bantaweight Division Championship. From what I heard that Miesha didn't do much until she had a 20 second sequence that has enough to win the match.
Then what you heard was BS. Miesha nearly finished her in the 2nd (potential 10-8 round) and was competitive, but losing, throughout.
I said before the fight that Holly had never faced a wrestler and that Miesha's takedowns are a completely different type than a judoka like Ronda uses. Miesha landed two takedowns and dominated on the ground after both of them. Holly is a phenomenal standup fighter, but Miesha is much better than Ronda on the feet, can take a punch unlike Ronda, and actually has coaches that can put together a real gameplan. Styles make fights and Miesha's style is exactly why I thought she had a chance.
With that said, now she gets Ronda again and I'm not sure if she's improved enough to beat Ronda as that's a lousy style matchup for Miesha.

There was nothing boring about the fight. It was a great chess match between two fighters who excel at completely different aspects of the sport. I'll take that over two fat heavyweights clumsily stumbling around the cage throwing sloppy punches with no defense. That fight was an easy 4 star fight on a 5 star scale. Not epic, but very good and full of legitimate drama.
If the fight appeared boring to some people...Holly is the one to blame for it. I am glad that she lost. Her fighting style is way too defensive, she appears like she does not want to lose rather than to win her matches and that does not make her fights look exciting at all. None of her matches were action filled, exciting fights. After the huge mistake Ronda made rushing in to win too quickly, it is totally understandable that Miesha was cautious. All other Miesha's fights were full of action and exciting. I am glad Miesha won. I believe Ronda will beat both these women when they have rematches.
