We've just upgraded the forums to ver. 1.1.8 which should fix a few bugs. Unfortunately, messages are still broken, and we will continue to look into this.
Also, we've activated an improved user registration system that should prevent most automated spam attacks. There are still some spam accounts we have yet to delete, but hopefully things will improve over the coming weeks here.
Finally, profiles are restored. Apparently they do are not turned on by default when you upgrade the forums
