Hi John,
Some of us have noticed that it reset our time zones to English time zone on our profiles and posts on the forum. Also about 11:30 PM the chat room booted 25 ppl of 32 people from the chat room tonight.
Chat seems to be working fine but noticed something odd. My time offset (the time zone it displays me as and how all the forum times are shown to me) was reset to somewhere in the UK I had set it up correctly in the past. based on the time it was showing. I since changed it to MST for myself, but that was odd since i had set it up properly in the past. Looking at it more it looks as though the base time zone used to be PST and has changed to GMT, hence why I was still at offset 1 but had changed time zones by about 9 hours :) Just in case someone looks later and wonders why their posts are showing at 3 Am lol

Yeah the time zone things is annoying.

that chat room has been lagging. you type what you want to say hit enter and it takes anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to show up on the main chat rooms screen
There may be a problem with chat at the moment. There are only two people there and I can't log in.

Reload your browser Mandy. I use Google Chrome, but every once in awhile I just need to close it down and pen it back up. I have found this more stable than FireFox and IE.

the pages were slow to load today and a really hard time even getting to fcf

Chat and the rest of the site has been working fine for me I mainly use Firefox and tried it earlier with Opera both work fine for me.
When i try to get in the chatroom when there are more than 40 members i get the script errror message .When i leave and try to get back in. the room implodes .any ideas?

had a couple of issues in the chat room tonight, 1st everything froze up
then my post failed to appear in the windows, and whe i clicked out of the chat room, i got a message that freecats could not be found and landed on my yahoo home page...however i had no trouble going back to fcf after that'
i live in the centreal time zone
The chat room has froze up and crashed 4 times in 4 hours.

True, but the basics of troubleshooting would state that if one person is consistently having problems, they must be doing something or have something that is causing it. It could be Sams' browser or OS or Java distro or something. I'm sure he's already been asked what those are so hopefully the problems can be fixed.

Not sure if its browser related though Red, either it should happen all the time or not. I think this points something on to the back end.
And the room crashed just a few minutes ago when Samsoni tried to get in again.
on sunday the room crashed again when i tried to get in ..people were ready to lynch me from the highest tree ..has someone got a solution ?

I was just trying to get in and got hit with messages about something in the script causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly and asking if I'd like to abort the script. A whole bunch of pop ups. I had to exit.
I get that script error message sometimes also. For me when it happens I am already in the chat room. It doesn't matter what browser I use either I have tried a couple different browsers.
I don't think it's java because I uninstalled all previous versions of java and installed the latest and still got the error. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit here running IE 9.

I get the same script error message. Just hit "no" on each one and you will get in. Although sometimes it does take me several tries. In the room the over - under on my getting in is six times LOL
I have 2 puters my desktop is a few yrs old and is running vista on it and my laptop is only a yr old running windows 7 all programs and flash player are up to date as i am obsessed with keeping everything updated and clean of viruses, spyware,adware ect... and it still does it to me on both computers. It also doesn't matter what browser i use. I mainly use firefox but have tried a couple others and still have that happen. Also lately I have been noticing that every 15 mins my browser freezes for about 5 seconds when i am in chat. I have googled the problem and couldn't come up with anything. And since it only happens when in chat it must be a chatroom issue

Two things could be happening...
One is that the room is having an issue. The other is that there is a a stuck adobe process on your computer. Reboot and see if you can get in.
New issue for me - when typing my stories , which at times can be time consuming , i'll be ither 2/3 or virtually at the end of the story & hit backspace due to a typo or just look up to see what I have & notice that a good portion of the story has just vanished :'( , just the other day , Monday 12 -8-12 , i was doing a story & got to the finish of the match & after looking at the screen to see where I was at , I noticed I was back to the very start of the match , with the last few things I typed in added in , but the rest was gone >:(.

Have you tried writing your stories in word then pasting them here?

I do get the having to move the cursor down when i quote long posts on my work computer. It may be a graphics setting but that is also why i avoid quoting long posts during the day :) Or have a ton of spelling errors lol
I would also suggest doing the 'save the stories on word first then cut and paste'. It helps reduce typos and let me revise and work on it over time versus doing the whole thing at once.

The chatroom has been crashing a lot today sometimes as often as 2 or 3 times a hr,, when it crashes the script error message pops up.
is this still the case BD?
it crashed every time i was in chat this afternoon and this evening up till about midnight us eastern time. it seemed like it was crashing at least once or twice a hr at one point it crashed 2 times in about 10 mins

This morning at 06:58 (est) room crashed and became laggy on my end. I have a pic of the room of when it happened.

The site slowed down to a crawl around 8:15 PM est, then booted me out of chat. it took 45 mins to get back on the site. The site is still going very slow. But it doesnt seem to be affecting everyone. 1 person told me in PM that it was fine for her. But another one told me it was doing the samething to him that it is doing to me. And a few ppl have said that there is a huge lag in chat. The last person to say that said it at about 9:04 PM as of 9:10 PM i still have the huge lag and the site is very slow. I also tried using 3 different browsers and had the same results. I checked my internet speed and it at its normal speed. Other sites are fine when i click on them.
Chatroom just crashed at 07:57 EST, very laggy to get back in.
a few people have told me they are getting signed out of chat with the message that the session has expired. I had that happen to me lastnight right before the 504 messages and site slowed down to a crawl for me.
Just a thought, John, when did you do the last database maintenance on the back end?
Have made the flashplayer update (12 June 2012 ) After this i wasn't able to join the chat. Have get only white screen. After deleting update chat works again.

Someone else had the same problem with the flashplayer update. I forget what he said the workaround is. I will ask him the next time I see him.

Someone else that had the same problem with the flashplayer said it was giving them problems with firefox. He said what he found on a forum about it was to reset firefox and that took care of the problem.
To reset click on firefox in the to left hand corner click on help then Troubleshooting Information. There you will see a button to reset firefox.

I just spent some time helping someone with a problem they were having with the chat room. They were able to come into the room any type but when they tried to send it the message wouldn't go through. It turned out to be that her flash player wasn't up to date. I just figured I'd let anyone else who has that same problem to try updating their flash player.

Flash player should be updated on a monthly basis, Adobe puts out updates all the time for security issues.
The Chat room crashed 3 times between 6:30 AM and 9:23 AM
Weird, I was in, but it did not crash for me, I did upgrade to flash player the previous night..

That's a known issue, techs are aware. For now just click "No" on that Adobe error and it'll eventually clear :-[

At 12:05 AM EST. The chat room completely crashed taking it from around 40 people down to 0. Usually when it crashes it doesnt knock everyone out of the room. It logged me out and gave "the session has expired" message, but some others said it froze up on them.
The chat room client is always a problem whenever there is 40 to 50 members logged in. It just crashes or freezes up and it doesn't matter if you have the latest browser or flash shockwave.
What I noticed is the chat client is probably one of the oldest versions of simple machines 1.1.20. I would think there has been an update for the program by now. I've run simple machines blog message boards and chats in the past and there was always updates and security patches.
