Some friends and I have made a couple short films. I was able to make one a girlfight. This will be in 3 parts. Here is the 1st part, the other 2 will follow shortly. Enjoy and please let me know what you think--it should prove to be a bit different than most everything else.

hey there. good stuff! Lookin forward to seein the other parts.
It looks well done and has dialogue better than a heck of a lot of other vids. Hopefully the fight action and the camera work (usually an issue it seems with a lot of fight videos) can keep up. :)
"It's going to be a neat little thing"
Sure looks like it might be true to it's billing ! Good luck with the other parts, you have a good start- pretty girls and a good buildup.
yes excellent vid. one question, how do u cheat in a fight? i thought the idea was to beat the crap out of the other girl. r u going to have rules? i like anything goes but no weapons as in ash trays lamps ect. clear a large room cause i can c this 1 with the girls smashing the others head against or through a wall. improve the lighting and u got it. gl
as aside i did c my X win a fight by ripping the earring out of another girls ear, remember whooped
earrings. yes my X was losing but all is fair in a fight right?
I think the cheating thing was , well no one ever loses a fair fight they always lose because the other person cheated ;)
Hey all--thanks so much for the feedback. I am really new at this so it did not come out perfect, but I think after you see the fight, that you will agree it is a bit different than what we normally see and not a bad 1st effort.
I was very impressed with the girls--trust me, they really went at it. They are not "fighters" but more actresses' playing a role. It was my goal to make it realistic and to really feature venomous hatred.
I decided not to script it but rather gave the actors guidelines and themes. I thought that if they used their own words it would come off better than if they were memorizing lines. I, too, did not like the "cheating" comment. In this fight, there are no rules thus no cheating; but that is what she said, so I left it. I agree that the lighting was bad, it is much better for the fight, though not perfect. I learned a lot making this--really wish I could do it again as I am sure it would be 100 x better, but I must say that I think it is very good--the thing I would want to watch had I not made it.
I hope to have Part 2, which is the 1st half of the fight up tomorrow. Part 3, the finish of the fight should follow sometime late next week or so.
Very interesting so far, the everyday-girl-next-door approach instead of just another tired girls-in-a-ring setting is what I prefer ( now watch, they'll end up in a ring ::) )
Great work !!
Very good beginning. Looking forward to Parts 2 and 3. Hope Donya lets down her hair so that both ladies can more easily get their hands in each other's pretty tresses. To me, it's not a catfight unless there is plenty of hairpulling.

I was thinking the same thing rawhide. Looks like the potential for some great hair pulling, let's hope it happens :)
Alright, I finally got up Part 2. I am sure you will find some hair pulling somewhere in there!

Thanks for all your comments and questions. Please keep them coming--I'll answer specifics after we have seen the whole thing (don't want to give too much away)!
Enjoy.
Very nice...really...good stuff. Yes the lighting is ... dim... but, after all this is a do it yourself project, and not one where you might want the curtains opened ;) so... lets say it's a more Gordon Willis-naturalistic approach to the lighting. Could be better but doesnt hamper the video.
I was very much hoping to see the girls still in their nicer clothes from part 1 :D but hey that's just my thang lol.
The action is surprisingly well done. For me it is a bit too much wrestle as opposed to cat, but, hats off to the girls here....they really did go all out and got a great workout...very energetic. And THANK YOU for not having the girls talk and taunt during the fight...I've seen too many horribly lame videos that have the girls just chatting away and it is embarrassing for all. Those giggle / tickle / spank videos are a blight.
I'm curious about the girls, how did they agree to this, their thoughts, feelings on the project. Not your typical home movie.
Looking forward to the last part. Congrats to all- what could have been a really embarrassing and stagy affair turns out to be really entertaining, with sexy ladies in some pretty energetic action.
part 2 is great!!! yeah.... i'da put some sort of padding over that furniture too..... my arms and shoulder felt that when she was bucked into it. other then that, awesome stuff so far!! :-)
Very nice! And like others have said, pass along a big thank you for a job well done to the girls. I'm with HB in that I thought we might see them in the fancier clothes, but what they have on works for me. Maybe in a future scenario have them start in the dresses and strip down to the more comfortable fighting clothes as the competition intensifies.
Again, great job to all. Part 3 will be sweet, I have no doubt :)
I enjoyed this second part. Like HB I appreciated the lack of chatter between the two. I have seen vids where I suspected the lack of action was from the fact all the girl's efforts went into talking versus fighting. Also enjoyed the fact that the two women seemed to have a contrast in fighting styles. One really did a lot of work on the arms and back and the other...well didn't lol. Also I suspect they both decided to not do a lot of punches for their own safety and risks to future acting career (broken noses and worse). I do wonder if the furniture collision was an accident or planned since it made a very nice way to get a pause in the action without the two of them just mysteriously stopping.
And give the poor cameraman a break. At least he didn't focus on well-lit shots of everything but the fight action like some other professional products I have seen. But you could always increrase the lighting for those old guys here who can't seem to see very well. ;D
And my compliments to the two women, they seem to put a lot more effort into this than women who allegedly get paid to do this sort of thing.
This is a fantastic 1st effort. I enjoyed both parts a lot. I love that you let the girls actually fight. The looked like they were fighting harder than the so-called real fighters in so many of the professional productions. I can't tell you how many times i have bought videos and dvd's just to feel like i was robbed with all the lack of action, and all the talking. I too liked the idea that there wasnt a lot of trash talking. These 2 girls really seemed to be going at it hard. I loved all the arm and back work the one girl was doing. I seemed to me that the girl falling into the furniture really felt that. As far as the lighting goes it didnt bother me at all i took it for what it is a 1st time effort and a very well done one. The camera man seemed to do a good job at catching the action and that is what i look for in a video Thanks for posting, I am looking forward to part 3
well done. i was expecting more punches but what we got is excellent!!
And also...thanks for NO lame money shots that just zoom in on a fighter's crotch or ass and linger there. One of the apparent top prodcuers for fem fight videos ( one that Those Who Equate Their Stroking Material With Fine Wine seem to hold in high regard ) have these idiotic shots that just zoom in various parts of the anatomy... it is embarrassing and really ridiculous. Basically the producer/directors are saying " OK, here ya go dudes, whip it out and work iiiiiiiit....NOW " . Even some of the more ridiculous Napali videos aren't as blatant...and that is saying something.
So again...nice work. Hope part 3 arrives soon!
And also, lets hope this is just the beginning.
Congratulations on a terrific first effort! You have the talent to take this a long way. Can't wait to see part 3.
J
xoxo
Hey all, thanks for all of your comments, I appreciate all of them. Let me answer a few.
First, I was the cameraman. Yes, I agree it turned out dark. I think it was really more of the lens/style I used. I was going for the "cinema" effect, which is why it is also a bit grainy, but in the end, it was too dark. I can assure you, there was plenty of light in the room.
I agree with you all who complimented the girls--there efforts were amazing. It was a choice by me not to have them talk much. I really wanted them to worry about the fight. We also decided not to do too much punching (though there may be a bit more in Part 3) because it is just really hard to fake that. You know, it's either a camera trick, where nothing is being hit or the punches just are not hard. Don't worry about the padding, we were very conciencous of what all was there. I thik you'll see the shelves put to interesting use later on.
Speaking of Part 3, I hope to have it up soon, just finding it hard, with the holidays and all to get the time.
Again, thanks for watching--we all had a blast on this project.
Alright, I finally got Part 3, the Finale up! I hope you enjoy as one girl is destroyed, left crying, kicked out of the house, and worse? BTW, not sure if the girls will come here, but one of them did leave a message on Part 1.

What a great effort docstup. I really find it hard to pick out any negatives for a first time effort. Especially when you can pay good money to some well established companies and get a very lame effort in return. I especially like how you picked out 2 very similar sized girls. By the way well done to them both too. 10 out of 10 for a first effort is my score for you.
Overall a well done effort. I enjoyed the fact that the winner acted like someone who had actually won a fight who doesn't fight often, and not the "jaded porn star" reaction most seem to have in fight vids. And yes I know there is often good reason they have that reaction lol All involved should be proud of this effort.
And great use of a shelving unit :)
I admit I watched part 3, but at the time wasn't able to give it undevided attention at the time. I'll sit down and do a start to finish viewing later, but, overall...excellent work. The action wasn't something I normally seek out ( not being sure how much of the action was blocked in advanced or lightly scripted ) , as half the video was one girl prone on the floor just being abused. Not for me, HOWEVER , the girls are damn impressive...really they did some excellent work here, and you did shot the action well.
One thing...the reaction shots... don't work. Since your reactions are complete cut aways to a close up of you...they're jarring. If there were a shot, at least one of the two girls foreground; or the girls moving through the frame as they fight and you in the background reacting...they'd cut in better - but as stands, they remind me of the cheesy shots in old westerns, cutting from two brawling saloon girls to a cowboy taking a shot of whiskey or pushin his hat back... ;D I can see why the shots were put in but, as is... not working too well ;)
But hey...lets be honest - and I'm not even gonna qualify this as "for a first effort" , lets say, it is a good video, hands down. rough around the edges but that doesn't hurt it... am very interested in your next video, and lets hope more are to come !
Very well done. You did better than most of the so-called professional producers do. The girls were both very good. I loved the way the one girl remained in control in part 3. I have to admit I was kind of expecting some sort of miraculous comeback, which in my mind usually looks staged and fake. Keep up the good work :)
Wow! That was absolutely AWESOME! I watched all three parts - had I not read your commentary here, I would have most certainly believed that it was a real fight. The scenario was plausible, and the performances were VERY believeable!
I have no criticism at all to offer...only my thanks and congratulations for a job very well done by ALL involved.
I hope you produce more fight films in the future. Your first effort scored an A+ from me. A perfect ten!
Hey all, thanks again for the kind words. I wanted to adress a few things.
HB, I could not agree more about those cut aways (btw, that was not me, I was behind the camera) I put them in there on a few occaisons as I had to do something to go from one camera angle to another but had no footage that would have flowed at all. This is part of my learning curve. On a few cuts, it is apparent it is a totally different scene, but was at least close. The cut away to the guy was the best thing I could come up with and believe me, I only used it when I really had to.
Some of you have said you hope I do more and I appreciate that. The unfortunate thing is after we filmed that, I moved (from the DC area where my friends still are) to the Tampa area. Maybe you can help me. Is anyone in this area that would like to be involved in this type of project? Are any catfight/wrestling companies in this area, I seem to think that Modelfight is here but now hear they have gone away. I am not looking to make money, just to work within a group, having a ton of fun, and putting out a cool video or two. If anyone has any thoughts/ideas, let me know. I have a great camera, studied drama, can write, direct, film, edit, buy lunch, beers, whatever needs to be done!
Also, some of you mentioned how you liked that some of the things we did was different than many other videos. One of the key things, I believe, was that we treated this like a film. I wrote it and directed it. It was not simply, "OK girls, go at it." The girls were actors, not fighters. We really treated this as a film project, not a catfight video. We used the camera the way it is meant to be used. We filmed each hold from a number of different angles (I don't know why others don't, the only I am aware of is the CatfightFantasys (that is the one with Paris Kennedy, right?) We did things a few times to get it right. Again, as this was my first shot at this, we were far from perfect.
Oh yeah, one other thing. We did film an alternate ending, though I have yet to edit it. I hope to get it up soon, but have a feeling it could take a few months.
Again, I really appreciate you all taking to time to give me feedback and I truly hope you all enjoyed it and that I can do more, somehow, some way, sometime. If you have any questions, go ahead, I'll do my best.
Hey fightfan. So, yeah, the endings were pretty intense. You can see how Rosie really took a beating there, which was hard. I mean she had her arms trapped, was just helpless. Although they were acting, it was not an easy thing. Same for the alt ending, which hopefully you will see soon, different, but intense. The girls were so good and so into it that when they were beatin at the end, it just seemed so real. Hope that makes sense, it's pretty late here, not sure I am making the most sense.
We were very cogniscent of safety. At first, the girls wanted to pick each other up, do slams and whatever and I would not allow that. However, Rosie really did get her head slammed into the wall there. We had practiced it slowly a few times, but when we did it for real Donya went a little too far and Rosie didn't get her hands up. It was not bad, nothing close to a concussion or anything, but it did shake her up. The other time was when Rosie is on top of Donya, rubbing her face into the carpet, well, let's just say she was a bit over zealous. You can see some marks on her forehead.
As for the ending, I think you will find the alt one will really rap things up. It will not simply end at the end of the fight, like this version did.

Hey all, thanks again for the kind words. I wanted to adress a few things.
Hey, your point about the cutaways , understood . Keep in mind overall it doesn't really hurt the film, which I still marvel at. It has much better action than many of the vendor produced ones.
But ah...it is a shame you moved away from these two willing and dynamic ladies. Was looking forward to more from them, I'm sure you were, too !
Let's hope you can get another project running...really...this one deserves some notice!!
I figured that was the reason for the cutaways too and there is little you can do for that isn't a fade or some really awkward looking editing. It does raise a question: how many current fight vid producers have any sort of film background? And before people scoff and wonder why would they be, recall that the early porn films featured a lot of guys trying to use those to build their skills and become 'legit' directors over time.
So the breaks weren't very long, just a moment or two for them to gather themselves. They were really into their characters, as all good actors are and so when they were getting pummelled, it was like, woah, wait a second. After a quick second, they were ready to go back at it.
The whole fight shoot took a good part of a day, maybe 5-6 hours, with a break for lunch. It was a good, fun day, but was a long day, the girls were exausted. We did the interviews on a couple different occasions, maybe an hour or so was spent on them. I had wanted to do a bit more, like film a proper ending for Part 3, but life got in the way there.
I don't think either girl had ever done any wresting. The best thing was that they were not afraid to go hard, ya know? They really didn't hold back. We talked about a lot of things that look like they hurt, but really don't--the bow and arrow for example. It looks like you're breaking her back, stretching to the breaking point, but in reality it's no big deal. We talked about being "uncomfortable" rather than being hurt. Being uncomfortable brings out all the emotion on your face, but pretty much doesn't hurt--maybe for a minute. Like getting a noogie from a freind--it is very uncomfortable, but you are really in no danger. Things like hair pulling, arm bending (you go far enough to make her uncomfortable, just don't go to far), and other holds. We practiced a number of holds before the camera was turned on. When filming, we diccussed going from one hold to the next and how to escape. We then fimed that whole process from a couple different angles.
From what I have seen, I don't think anyone with any schooling is making catfight films/videos. I truly believe if the girls have proper direction and I mean acting directing and if they are willing, they could be great. I think most companies just say "action" and film whatever happens. There is no psychology to it, very little emotion. Just my opinion.

That's it in a nutshell. These days - with the explosion of people leering and capturing real fights on cellphones, standards are lowered.
And then with some producers, their idea of adding depth or subtext or emotion is to zoom in on a crotch or butt.
You nailed it on the head, what makes a catfight for many - not all, some just want people pounding each other - is emotion. When that's missing , the point is missing
I love part 3! Did a very very good job with the whole thing. The one thing I was thinking when I initially watched the video was "she has her arms pinned in the furniture why isn't she flogging her?" But then read that they were actors not actual fighters. I was waitin for punches and flogging whatnot. But still a great first crack at a video!! Keep up the awesome work!
Just wanted to add my congrats and appreciation for a great effort. There was the feeling of intensity and emotion, the moves did not break the mood. I agree about the reaction shots - that reminds me of most hollywood movie fights where they cut away to some guy looking at the fight. But I understand the reason and for a first effort was outstanding.
Its not bad, BUT there are a few things i didnt care for. The camera seemed a bit to close at times. Going away from the action. and focusing on you. I think you'll be doing some great stuff once you get a few more matches under your belt.
1 big thing i liked, some companies ruin theres with it. Fake added sound.
i just watched all three fights and all i can say is,"Wow!!!" That was awesome. Good on u for doing it and even more good on the ladies. They did an awesome job. Everyone has a different idea about what is sexy and i am no different. I wish there was more foot in the face humiliation and perhaps some facesitting but overall it was amazing. It would have been good to interview the winner a few days later and get her to brag about her victory too. Perhaps she could have been videoed pretending to talk to Rosie on the phone, laughing at her and telling her if she ever shows her face around there again she will beat her up worse. Just an idea. Thumbs up my friend, great job!
