Title: Do mature women have an advantage in a catfight compared to wrestling?
Post by: tomboy999999 on December 02, 2011, 03:10:26 PM
As you get older speed and flexibilty go down so it is harder to compete in pure wrestling.

However maybe catfghting is different, as it is mostly close quarters speed is less critical. Also whilst stamina may go I think endurance does not so again , maybe a mature  catfigther has an edge.

More options to wear your opponent down in catfighting so experience and pure stubborness  count for more

Also wthout being too anatomical breasts etc lose some sensivity with age. Bad for some things but another edge in a long catfight.

So do women prefer to move into rules catfighting past " a certain age" and do they reckon they have a better chance against younger women in a rules CF instead of wrestling.

Interested to hear views/ideas

varies a lot from person to person. just reminded me of the Discworld book starring Cohen the barbarian, an incredibly old barbarian who decides to conquer an empire with his handful of equally old friends. they fight a set of buff younger ninja and kick the crap out of them. it's explained oddly as a show of skill more than speed or strength, since the old men don't seem to move quickly, they're just never where the ninja hit

I don't know if they have an advantage, but I think a catfight between mature women is so sexy. They are the best catfighters in my mind

I don`t think being a mature woman is advantageous or disadvantageous. Surely it depends upon the individual concerned and her physical attributes.
Looking at some mature women celebrities, many are in great shape and look capable of beating women of younger years in a catfight/wrestle.
e.g. Glenn Close pictured next to her co-star (Rose Byrne) at season 4 Damages premiere in New York revealed superbly toned legs in an above the knee dress.
In contrast, Rose (who is half Glenn`s age) revealed skinnier legs which lacked the muscular curves of her older co-star.
Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, etc, can i suppose be considered as mature women now, but do they look any weaker or less capable in a fight than women of younger years such as linsey lohan?
What do our mature female members think?

Sorry Saesneg i did not check your profile before posting. Thanks for your feedback based upon your own experiences.
I agree with much of your reply, however my observations were not based solely on actresses. Perhaps celebrities in the public eye were not the best example to use, (I used actresses as most members would be familiar with the examples).
I think the physical prowess of mature women can be underestimated though,so i was trying to adress the imbalance really.
As a better example, I knew a mother of two (50 yrs old) at the local gym who was not a bodybuilder but regularly outperformed her younger friends on the rowing machine.
In summary i am certainly not suggesting being a mature woman is advantageous in fights or other physical activities, and i agree, age will eventually at some point deteriorate physical performance.

I'd disagree with you entirely and argue that catfighting is a short, intense activity and therefore more suited to a younger person.

Wrestling can rely more on a skill level and since such skill can be increased over time it could be argued that an older person can have that skill to bring into the equation.

All of the above however has the caveat that as with most physical activities youth certainly helps. There comes a point when however skilled you may be you are simply too old and not as good as you once were.

Saesneg, as a newcomer here I would bow to your knowledge and experience of actual women's recreational combat.

However I think that in my own , rather inarticulate way, I am agreeing with you in many ways. Of course you lose an edge in any sport as you get older and catfighting is a short , intense activity, but I think that was the point I was trying to make maybe badly.

An older woman lacks speed and stamina but as Catfights are intense and close quarters ( from the vidoes I have seen) lack of speed and stamina are less of a penalty than in a long grappling match.

My question was driven by my surprise at finding women here who seem genuine ( s much as one can tell here) who are older and seem to be willing to have a rules catfight. I get the impression they may prefer those to grappling so hence my question - is age lees of a disdavantage in catfighting than wrestling?

I would be the first to admit lack of live experience so maybe more mature women still prefer grappling in IRL fights but just commenting on a preception from posts/chats

From what I have seen when two mature women fight the catfights are long and catty as it seems the mature women are stronger willed and neither will give up easy and they keep going till one of both can not go on any longer

I feel it depends on the women. If they have fight in thier spirits and dont worry about mixing it up it is anyone's fight.  If the mature woman is afraid of getting hurt then that is when you get hurt in a fight, as i know from my boxing matches.  When I became afraid my opponent would hurt me, and yet when I was not afraid in my mind, I could hit him as hard as he could hit me. It does not matter whether it is catfight or wrestling....
